Heartland Credit Union is looking for a full-time Account Resolution Assistant to work at our branch in Hutchinson. If you are a positive and friendly individual who enjoys helping customers, then this is for you. You will review delinquent accounts and assist members with finding a solution utilizing various techniques. Heartland's training is top-notch, and this position provides a great opportunity to gain experience in the financial services field and be a part of a growing company!

SCHEDULE

Office hours are Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. No weekends required.

LOCATION

This position is in-person and will work at one of our Hutchinson branches, located at 900 E. 23rd Ave.

ABOUT THIS POSITION

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Reviews delinquency reports and verifies the status of the customer's accounts.
  • Follows up on delinquent accounts by telephone, personal contact, and correspondence to secure a satisfactory resolution for repayment issues. Discusses possible financial arrangements, informs clients of potential legal actions, and suggests financial counseling to arrive at suitable payment arrangements. Continues to collect until the account becomes a write-off, bankruptcy, or attorney account. Makes early contact with members to collect and keep them informed of account status.
  • Utilizes effective service skills and various forms to assist members in difficult situations. Listens to members and answers questions and complaints relevant to department functions. Determines reasons for delinquencies and works toward permanent solutions. Minimizes losses by early actions.
  • Utilizes further appropriate collection methods if initial attempts do not secure required payment. Recommends extensions of due dates. Suggests consolidations and financial counseling.
  • Recommends loan deferrals and communicates with front-line staff.
  • Recommends and completes small claims court complaints and post judgment actions including garnishments and supplemental orders.
  • Refers accounts to Account Resolution Manager for bankruptcy actions. Continues related collection efforts.
  • Researches accounts that appear on late and potentially late records to ensure that HCU errors are detected promptly.
  • Maintains HCU's professional reputation throughout collections operations and in all contacts with employees, members and vendors.
  • Maintains member confidentiality.
  • Develops contacts with credit bureaus and other financial institutions. Uses shared information to effectively minimize HCU losses.
  • Provides superior service to our members.
  • Ensures members are promptly and professionally served.
  • Cross-sells credit union products and services.
  • Attends meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Proactively supports and advances HCU's culture and brand.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous collection experience is helpful.
  • Previous experience at a financial institution is helpful.
  • Previous experience working in an office environment is preferred.

SKILLS:

  • Accuracy and thoroughness in work.
  • Excellent communication, telephone, and public relations skills.
  • Ability to work well independently.
  • Ability to work well in stressful situations.
  • Able to operate related computer applications and PC.
  • Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Flexible and open to change.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Pass criminal background check, drug screen, credit check and past employment and education verification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Required to sit, stand, and walk. Standing for extended periods of time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
