The Director of Business Intelligence will provide leadership to advance Heartland's business intelligence initiatives.

LOCATION

The person will work from our Support Center, located at 4000 North Monroe in Hutchinson, KS.

SCHEDULE

Normal office hours, Monday - Friday.

DUTIES

The successful candidate will be an analyst that is skilled in using data and technology for accurate, timely reporting and analysis. This person will be instrumental in the improvement of current data sets, metrics and reports and the development of dashboards and insights for the credit union. In addition, this person will actively partner with internal and external stakeholders to develop innovative solutions and insights using data and analysis tools.

The Director of Business Intelligence reports directly to our CFO and will supervise financial analysis staff.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for development of technical solutions needed in order to provide an effective and efficient data and analysis solution that can support the credit union.
  • Meets with various departments and stakeholders to determine reporting needs and creates processes for data collection where necessary.
  • Develops and maintains various databases and data warehouse sources throughout the credit union.
  • Provides coaching and training to credit union staff on the use of data / analysis / reporting tools. Provides support to non-technical staff effectively.
  • Develop processes, standards and documentation necessary to advance the BI needs of the credit union.
  • Provide leadership to help teams maximize growth, profitability, and financial performance.
  • Accurate and timely presentation of reports and analysis to key decision makers and internal stakeholders.
  • Responsible for the administration and operation of the credit union's asset/liability management, profitability, budgeting and financial reporting software, including periodic updates as required.
  • Projects ROI, product margins, and other financial models and evaluations, and reports analyses to senior management when appropriate.
  • Designs and implements procedures to track investment performance and reports findings to senior management.
  • Manages budgets, tracks allocated funds compared with actual expenditures, and makes recommendations for adjustments.
  • Completes miscellaneous financial analyses and reports as requested by senior management and others.
  • Creates and maintains department specific and business reporting, management reporting, board reporting and other reporting as assigned.
  • Records, documents and reports decision making rationales, financial analyses, and corporate actions to assist in future planning.
  • Maintains and updates departmental budget records and compliance information.
  • Ensures the continuous compliance with regulatory financial reporting requirements where appropriate.
  • Ensures the timely maintenance of financial reports, insurance forms, investment evaluations, and miscellaneous documents as required.
  • Provides leadership to analyst staff through regular communication and coaching.
  • Responsible for leadership functions including recruitment, job duty analysis, training, goal creation and performance management.
  • Organize, lead and maintain reporting related to the Asset/Liability Committee (ALCO) meetings.
  • Attends and participates in meetings and training as required.
  • Actively contributes to positive, professional working environment.
  • Provides superior service to staff, management and volunteers.
  • Proactively supports and advances HCU's culture.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Performance measurements:

  • Financial analysis including ratios, cost reviews, accounting reports, risk management figures, etc. Provide meaningful information to Senior Management for strategic decision-making.
  • Financial reporting functions and records are accurate, timely, organized and in accordance with legal and HCU requirements.
  • Supervised staff are well trained and department standards are at the highest level.
  • Professional business relations exist with auditors, trade professionals, and business contacts.
  • Good coordination and effective working relations exist with other departments. Senior management is proactively informed.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Minimum 5-7 years of financial analysis experience.
  • Experience with various database and BI tools strongly preferred. Past experience with data structures and the ability to join/integrate tables in order to provide the necessary data for analytics and/or reporting.
  • Experience assisting stakeholders with using data and reporting to develop innovative solutions
  • SQL database experience preferred.

  • Able to organize, coordinate, and direct projects.
  • Solid oral and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in the use of all related hardware and software applications including MS Office Suite.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid driver's license.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sedentary work, sitting most of the time.
  • Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
