Heartland Credit Union is looking for a Learning and Development Manager responsible for developing, implementing, and facilitating learning programs that support employee development. Assisting staff with educational needs related to HCU policies and procedures will be a focus of this role. The Learning Development Manager will work with key stakeholders to identify learning needs at all levels and create comprehensive, adaptable learning solutions that support the credit unions strategic goals.

Office hours, Monday - Friday.

LOCATION

Our downtown branch, located at 129 W. Avenue A in Hutchinson.

ABOUT THIS POSITION

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and conducting, where appropriate, effective, and comprehensive training programs utilizing internal and external resources.
  • Researches, develops, and creates educational tools including handbooks, manuals, scripts, workbooks, tutorials, visual aids, and related materials.
  • Ensures that HCU personnel are well trained in their respective positions.
  • Ensures that employee onboarding, on-the-job training programs, and other training programs are efficient, appropriate, and timely.
  • Assists management and staff in identifying individual, departmental, and organizational training and development needs to meet established goals and objectives.
  • Formulates training and education outlines specific to position and/or department and selects the most appropriate delivery approach, including but not limited to one-on-one training, group instruction, online courses, demonstrations, workshops, skill practice, tutorials, webinars, and/or seminars.
  • Conduct sales, service, and other basic training courses for new & existing HCU staff, as needed.
  • Creates and maintains annual educational calendar and assists with budget.
  • Plans and coordinates all education events and presentations including the annual Staff Development Day and Leadership Development Day.
  • Assists with planning and coordinating of education events and presentations for HCU members.
  • Maintains learning management system information.
  • Researches, develops, and creates educational resources including related landing pages, process pages and news articles.
  • Assists with process related knowledge management by reviewing content with managers an developing/maintaining resources for staff in all departments.
  • Maintain overall function and appearance of intranet site and communicate with programmer supervisor, internal and external support as needed in the event of an outage or site issues
  • Works to create and maintain a high-quality work environment so team members are motivated to perform at their highest level.
  • Ensures high quality work and efficiency in processing and operations are maintained. Determines work methods and flow through assigning, directing, coordinating, and reviewing tasks.
  • Assesses each assigned employee's performance and holds regular coaching sessions to further bolster employee performance. Coaches and mentors' employees
  • Supports superior service to our members.
  • Attends meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Proactively supports and advances HCU's culture and brand.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS


EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE:

  • At least two years of related experience in HR/education and development preferred. Experience coordinating events and activities. Group facilitation and training experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in a financial institution is helpful.
  • Previous leadership experience is helpful.

  • Strong interpersonal and public relations skills.
  • Effectively lead and supervise a team
  • Ability to assist and support others
  • Well-organized and attentive to detail.
  • Able to meet deadlines and manage projects
  • Strong verbal communication and facilitation skills.
  • Solid writing skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and respond to continually changing priorities.
  • Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Flexible and open to change.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Requires National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) registration under the SAFE Act of 2008. Will be subject to the required registration process, which includes fingerprinting and a criminal background screening. Fees are paid for by Heartland Credit Union.
  • Will be become a Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) through CUNA's FiCEP program. Certification fees are paid for by Heartland Credit Union.
  • Pass criminal background check, drug screen, credit check and past employment and education verification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Required to sit, stand, and walk. Standing for extended periods of time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
